Biggest surprise of the day? Ella had only eleven kids show up to her first grade class! Yay! I know the class will probably grow a little over the next few weeks, but so far so good. And, get this, they have a teacher AND a teacher's aide all day! Who said NYC public schools are doomed? I found my hidden gem and I'm sticking with it!
The boys did great too. They are not only having structure for the first time (secret: i've never signed them up for any classes! whoops), but also being separated for the first time. It was so effortless for them. Sometimes I wonder if they are even twins.
Oh I love her dress...I want to start over with my daughters...haha...not really! I hope you will write more about their schools...I am a teacher...public school at that...
ReplyDelete11 kids?! That's amazing. Every decent school in London is so full that tons of kids aren't even getting a place here. I hope it goes well for them.
ReplyDeleteI love your little girl's outfit--that dress and those shoes--Too cute! So glad to hear that she only has 11 kids in her class--even if it grows, that is still small! I used to be a public school teacher--and the numbers makes the biggest difference!! Looks like they were ready to go and excited--I hope they had a great day!
ReplyDeleteElla's dress (and entire outfit) is so adorable! Happy the first day of school went so well for you + them :)
ReplyDeletei'm a twin, and my mom made sure that once we entered 1st grade we were in different classes. (the kindergarten classes were too small to separate us) we think it was the best thing to ever happen to us!!
ReplyDeleteI am so encouraged to hear that you never did classes with your boys! I loathe entering the preschool "academia" that seems to reign here in NYC. Would you be willing to write about why you chose to do that - and what you did with them instead? (I guess that's kind of what this blog is all about, now that I think about it...)
ReplyDeleteMy boy is much younger than your kids (13mo) but it would be fun to maybe get together in the city some day! Great blog.
I love Ella's style! I miss first days of school. :)
ReplyDeleteso fun! hope they're loving it and that you're enjoying your new internship.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that dress! Glad the first day of school went well!
ReplyDeleteI would also love to hear more about the schools, and what you did with two active boys all day long without classes! I stay home with my son, and we just toured some preschools in our area, but I really didn't like them.
ReplyDeleteIt's my dream to live in NYC one day, maybe with my kids! You are such an inspiration for this! Can't wait to hear more!
