When my kids showed me their proofs from school picture day, I was not prepared to see such startling images. The photographer had a rare talent of capturing children at their most uncomfortable and unnatural moments. You can't be taught that. They went from
cool city kids to nervous nerds in seconds. We spent a half hour laughing over these pics yesterday. The best part: It's not a joke, just honest bad photography. And I'll take an 8 x 10 of each. I can't let these pictures go to waste. Too good.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Tooo good. Love these. Too good/bad that is. Thank goodness you have so many great natural shots of your sweet kiddos. Remind me to show you Henry's sometime. He's sitting with his hands crossed in front of each other and his hair is sticking up to heaven.

i used to have the kids dress up and picked out a tasteful background, but then i realized, school photos are always ridiculous. now the kids pick their clothes and backgrounds--which involved something that looked like disco lights recently. it made them so much better!

ReplyDeleteThese are classic ... I used to work as a school photographer, and retake day was the best. These were back in the days of film, so you didn't know what you were getting. It broke my heart that some parents didn't keep the awful gems we took. I have to admit, I kept a huge stack of them and take them out once and awhile for a good laugh.

ReplyDeleteThe spring pics at my kids school were in front of a green screen. They asked the kids to wear any color except green. Mine wore green! I said they should tell anyone who asked, "My mom WANTS me to be a floating head." Now we are having fun playing with the backgrounds on the order site. The only reason I can think to buy these is that the kids have these really fun mischievous looks in their eyes.
