Lessons from Henrietta's 5th Birthday Party

Lesson One:
Sparklers instead of candles when the cake is outdoors.
Even the slightest wind blew out the candles. The stress! The disappointment! The relief!

Lesson Two:
Adults get just as competitive as kids during musical chairs. Don't let her smile fool you.

Lesson Three:
Pinatas work on so many levels and no party should be without one.

Lesson Four:
Singing Happy Birthday To You and How Old Are You Now takes too long.
Pick up the tempo and speed it along if you do both.
Or else you'll get a very bored child.

Happy Birthday to our cousin Henrietta!!

  1. Perhaps Lesson 4 should be to sing the way your child is expecting you to sing. That sad look is not boredom but disappointment because she thought we weren't going to continue!

  8. Lesson 5: A little bit of rain doesn't mean the end of an outdoor party. In fact, it can add to the charm.

p.s. I know how to comment with just my name. I'm really good at all things tech. Now if I could just figure out the point of facebook . . .

  9. Great b-day lessons:)I love pinatas but I am always afraid someone is going to get hit in the face with the bat...I like using ribbons with my pinatas. R makes themed pinatas for K&C's b-day parties. They are super cute & easy to make:)...Also, have you heard the Happy Birthday song with ChaChaCha's? It adds a fun kick to the song that kids love:) I'll sing it for your b-day in a few months:)lol I love the sparklers idea on outside b-day cakes:)Super Cute!:)
