Would the owners of this shirt or its equivant please chime in? I went to a party last month and I was one of three people wearing it. I'm just waiting for an episode of Portandia to make fun of it. Until then, I will continue to wear it shamelessly. Speaking of Portandia, for the past few months, I've prided myself in not "putting a bird on it". Click here for the episode. After seeing that video, I was like: I was tempted! But I didn't! I win! I even bragged to my friend Joanna about my very sophisticated sense of style and my ability avoid such silly trends. Then yesterday. Look what I found!
(yes I am standing in front of a self portrait) |
On the wallpaper that I use in every picture when I'm trying to look cool: Is a BIRD! And it's almost exactly the bird the writers of Portlandia were making fun of! I'm such a cliche.
What trends have you followed that you hide your head in embarrassment now and wonder to yourself: How did I let that happen?!
haha totally. good one.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if that shirt's a cliche. I want it. As for me, I kinda cringe whenever I look at my "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster. I thought I was SO original when I bought it a few years ago. Not so much.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great clip of Portlandia, I've totally "put a bird on it". Haha!
ReplyDeleteI definitely have that shirt in montclair black. My husband loves it so much but can't bring himself to buy the guy version because I already own it! Ya snooze ya lose! :)
ReplyDeleteWho cares? You look great in that shirt with your lipstick. Just be the prettiest one wearing it and you're good.
ReplyDeleteGingham is everywhere, so don't sweat it. Mine's in a bright pink and super loose, just the way I like my clothes.
ReplyDeletei heard foxes are the new birds. watch out!
ReplyDeletei'm feeling that way about the deer antlers in our living room. also, every striped shirt i own! :)
ReplyDeleteYep, I've got the shirt too! I love it because I feel like (and really hope) it will never go out of style!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I both have black Northface coats - so if and when we wear them at the same time, we're basically matching. So, that's embarassing.
ReplyDeleteI have that shirt. My husband bought it for me and wants me to wear it all the time. He's so proud of himself whenever he sees it anywhere (which is all the time). We should have a plaid shirt party:)
ReplyDeleteI bought a shirt a few days ago with birds on it, and I bought it to wear ironically, because I enjoy Portlandia and I wanted to ironically "put a bird on it."
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Put a bird on it! I love Portlandia. It's gotta' be my favorite show on TV right now.
ReplyDeleteThe last trend that I gave in to that I ended up cursing myself for was the powder blue velour jumpsuit trend (I'm so ashamed!). Thankfully, this was in high school and there are NO pictures of me in it. But I'll always have that memory to haunt me...
I'd laugh but I'm wearing that shirt sitting in my living room which has no less than three different pieces with birds on them. Do peacocks count? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I own that shirt, but my gingham print is slightly bigger. I have noticed recently that I wear it with pretty much everything...
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think I saw you at the Museum of Natural History on Monday (hard to make that sound normal and not kind of blogger-stalking creepy)... I was with my mom, who was visiting, and we both read your blog. Hope you had a nice day there!
I have that shirt! I keep seeing it everywhere and thought I was going crazy, glad it's not just me!
ReplyDeletehahaha love this. i sat across from a guy who had this same shirt and he looked awesome. it works so well on both sexes!
ReplyDeletehaha love you julie. this is such good advice. it doesn't surprise me one bit that it came from you. you rock the trends.
ReplyDeletesuper loose! i should try that. i'm squeeezing into that white shirt above. i didn't realize it! i'm surprised the buttons haven't popped off.
ReplyDeleteoh wow-- i haven't heard. good to know. i will avoid--thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeletehaha, i too was tempted with the deer antlers. and the striped shirts!! yes!
ReplyDeletei know that's what i think too! but worried about gettingt armpit stains in my shirt because i'm wearing it sooooo much. ha
ReplyDeletehaha! pictures please!!
ReplyDeleteyes! a plaid shirt party! that's totally a Portandia episode in the making.
ReplyDeletehahahahah those hipsters and their love of irony. if you can't beat them, join em.
ReplyDeleteyikes: powder blue velour jumpsuit trend! haha. i'm googling that.
ReplyDeletehaha yes, peacocks count! does that bring the bird sitings up to 4?
ReplyDeleteyes i was there on monday! i had a huge double stroller! there was a moment when Oscar was yelling at me to give him attention and I was too busy reading a fascinating blog post on my iphone instead. i hope you didn't catch that! say hi next time so i can be on my best behavior! hahahaha
ReplyDeleteIt's a good shirt. No doubt. This winter I'm the 3rd person to walk in anywhere in faux leopard fur coat. One time at H&M I had to try to stay away from some girl who was trying to rub furs with me.
ReplyDeletenope, not just you. it's everywhere!
ReplyDeletebaahahaha you crack me up.
ReplyDeleteyou're funny.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of blue gingham socks that I treasure.
ReplyDeletehaha! I love that show!
ReplyDeleteThat clip is too funny! There's a bird on my tissue box. I'm throwing it out RIGHT away.
ReplyDeleteHa, nope, didn't catch any of those moments!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend! Here is my blog if you want to check it out:
