these clothes don't clean themselves. |
I just dropped off 48 pounds of laundry to the wash & fold, along with my favorite dress that has orange marker all over it, and my king size comforter that one of my kids lovingly pissed all over. Weeks ago! I am also using 8 machines in my apartment's basement (4 washers, 4 dryers) because I was too embarrassed to bring so much clothes to the wash & fold. #richworldproblems
Later dudes!
Oh how I miss New York, I haven't thought of dropping off my laundry in years! They used to fold the clothes so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThis picture is amazing! And I too end up with obscene amounts of laundry. You have 3 kids. It's totally acceptable. ;)
ReplyDeleteSharon, thank you for sharing your "real mom" problems. If you continue to keep it real, you'll have this reader for life! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you need a Nanny!!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a wash and fold in Australia .... one of the many things to miss about NYC .. along with fresh cut flowers, lunch delivered to your door ... the world on your DOOR steps! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been raining like crazy here in Sydney and I'm in the same boat. The one dry sunny day in 8 days and I was too sick to get out of the house :(
ReplyDeleteThis always seems to happen to me too! Laundry can just get piled up so quickly! I have to say I am laughing out loud at my desk over your comforter situation... Haha!

I am a laundry hater too. What I do to make it less painful is by having two laundry baskets one for colours and one for pants and darks (I don’t do whites shame on me) so I don’t have to do the dreaded sorting. And then I put all my socks and underwear in mesh bags. It’s the only way that I can do my laundry and remain sane.
ReplyDeletei hate doing laundry! my husband does most of ours.....thats romance.

There are a million things I miss about NYC. Notably: delivery at all hours, unexpectedly bumping into old friends on the street, the noise, finding new shops all the time, good bagels.
ReplyDeleteIn my new life outside NY, though, I have my own washer and dryer. It's not enough, of course, to make up for the Brooklyn-shaped hole. But on days when I really miss the city, I remind myself what it was like to walk down 3 flights of stairs and cross the street with my huge bag of long-overdue laundry.
keepin it real, gotta love it:)
ReplyDeleteyou don't know how good this makes me feel!! to know i'm not alone in my laziness is so nice!!
ReplyDeletegood question! i didn't know what it was until i moved here. here's the official definition:
ReplyDeleteWash and fold service is a convenient method of sending out your laundry to be done by professionals. Unlike dry cleaning, this service launders your clothes in a washing machine and dryer similar to those you might have at home. Many busy people take advantage of a wash and fold service to save them time and reduce the hassle.
:)
ha! i keep expecting 60mins or 20/20 or some film maker to do a doc on the wash and fold ladies. the guilt I feel when dropping off my dirty clothes is awful!! ha
ReplyDeleteI live with my boyfriend and we seriously rack up almost 5 loads of laundry a week. It's ridiculous! I hate hate hate laundry! We have no washer/dryer at home so we always lug it over to his parents house. Sometimes I'm so embarrassed about the amount so I take half of it to the laundromat. You're not alone!

Thank goodness for mild winters! I think we're going to make it all winter without my comforter that the cat puked on...nearly a year ago. I have no excuse besides laziness.
ReplyDeleteI spent three hours going up and down from our apartments basement laundry today so I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteIs wash and fold a dry cleaners? I know what you mean with so much though! I feel like my laundry is never done even if I spend my whole weekend doing it, then the hamper is full the next weekend haha

Oh how I LOVE laundry...no really I am one of those very odd people who enjoy the task. Although I do have to say your current load task sounds a bit overwhelming even to a laundry ho like me!
ReplyDeleteIt's a chore to do laundry for one. I feel so lucky that I don't have a family of five today. That is haaaaaaard work, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh..one of the lovely things about living in NYC..no IN APRT washer $ Dryer..that would be so difficult for me! I loath laundry..i do it, hang it, fold it..but it sits in baskets until a new load needs to be done! :S
ReplyDeleteOh my...I remember the days of the laundromat...hated it! But the good thing is you can get a lot done when you DO..DO IT! lol.... I now do a load a day...and then catch up on Saturdays! Good Luck!
ReplyDeletebless them indeed. props for lugging 50 lbs to the cleaners, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Matt ran out of undies today and we have two of the huge, blue Ikea bags to take to wash & fold. We have no embarrassment qualms about taking so much. Bless those people!
