Hi! In October 2010, I moved from San Francisco to Manhattan with my husband, daughter, and twin boys. Since then I've been busy teaching myself and my kids how to hail a cab, fly a kite in Central Park, and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with style. And a few other things. I write about those other things here. Thanks for stopping by!

This weekend, Rob and I decided doughnuts from Doughnut Plant are the best treat. Better than cookies. Slightly better than ice cream. Far better than cupcakes. What's your favorite treat?
Cookies are usually my favorite treat. But I'd be willing to try a doughnut shop. Is it better than Dunkin? (Don't judge -- we all love Dunkin's donuts at heart)
hmmm. good question. the last time i had dunkin donuts was on Halloween. They were giving out donut holes to trick or treaters! I stole most of them from my kids bags. Best Halloween treat ever.
Dunkin's great for basic flavors--but DoughnutPlant has gourmet quality donuts. Peanut Butter and Blackberry Jelly donuts. Tres Leches. Hazelnut. Valrhona Chocolate.
What a wonderful picture! The boys look like they're in a state of mind in which nothing but their doughnut exists :D Cute. We don't have Doughnut Plant in Germany and I think all over the country, there is only ONE Dunkin Donut - there might be more, but I haven't found them yet. So unfair. I'll go eat my stupid pretzel and then have some sauerkraut and beer.
My family would agree with you, Ozzy, Luca and Mark are all crazy for doughnuts. They often take an early morning Saturday walk over to Bobs to gobble doughnuts. I usually stay home, I just don't like them, I know it's strange but doughnuts are maybe my least favorite treat. I'll take a cookie, ice-cream or cake any day.
Given that I write a blog whose first word in the title is "donut", I think you know what my answer is! And Doughnut Plant is by far the best of the lot. Their creme brulee doughnut is my kryptonite! Great picture!!
Hi Sharon! I bumped into you yesterday in the elevator with my husband and son at Columbus Circle station. I totally wanted to tell you that I love your blog and you and your family inspire me to stay in NYC to raise our son. I didn't want to weird you and your husband out and was a little starstruck seeing you and your family in person. :)
Funny thing is that yesterday my husband saw you and your family first and whispered to me in Korean "wow I have so much respect for this mom and dad -they have 3 kids so close in age!" That's when I turned around and saw it was you! My husband totally thought I was crazy when I told him I knew you from your blog. ;) Hope you guys had a great Sunday!
Our favorite treat are the chocolate chip walnut cookies from Levain Bakery. They are to die for! Have you tried them?
Hi!! It was so nice to meet you. Thank you for such a thoughtful note. Yes! Stay in the city! it's so fun!
I've only been to Levain bakery once, about a year ago. Email me and we can meet up one of these days! I need to go back for another cookie. It's been too long. :)
doughnuts are the best...i'd choose them over cake, cookies, etc. any day!
on an unrelated note - i'll be traveling to nyc in may with my 4 month old son. it will be my first post-baby visit to the city and i'm looking for suggestions. any thoughts on how to spend our time?

Yum, I love Doughnut Plant! Especially their peanut butter and jelly donut. I don't know if I could ever pick a favorite treat- I have such a sweet tooth! I love the donuts at Peter Pan in Greenpoint and Dough at the Brooklyn Flea; both worth checking out if you haven't already!
Will you hold it against me if I tell you that my first thought when I saw your photo was "street urchins"? But charming street urchins!
ReplyDeleteWill check out the donut place on my next trip to NYC that, I am happy to say, is soon, soon,, soon!
