You know I'm a huge fan of gender neutral clothes. It makes my life so much easier now that my kids all basically wear the same sizes. Super stoked that H&M is a fan of this idea too. You just can beat their style and prices. Have you been lately? Amazing stuff in their new fall line. The striped shirt in these pictures? $10! This look-a-like at American Apparel costs $30! Wha? Am I turning my back on American Apparel after it's done so much for me here here and here? Maybe. . .

A Few Completely Unrelated Things I'm Excited About:
2. My friend Jed's movie Shale. It's already been given the HBO Films Young Producers Development Award and the Panavision New Filmmaker Award. The idea was inspired by a gravel pit he grew up next to and his own musings about relationships. And I love this: I asked him if it had any funny parts. He responded: It is completely drama, no funny parts. I can't wait to see it! I'm one of his backers. Oh yeeeah. Click here to be one too!
3. My first sponsor: 1800specs! These glasses are my favorite. Amazing prescription lenses at a great price! You'll be shocked.
Women that Inspire
I watched the documentary Art & Copy a few nights ago (it's on Netflix instant watch!). It's all about the advertising world. Out of all the people they interviewed, I was most intrigued by Mary Wells Lawrence. It was her campaign that brought us the I Love NY phrase/song back in the seventies. AND she was the first woman CEO to make it onto the NY Stock Exchange board. I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds impressive. And everything I read includes that piece of info, so I thought it was note worthy.
In the movie, she was asked what made her so successful. She responded, "I never get tired." Today, as I have a million things to do and feel totally exhausted, I keep telling myself, "I never get tired. I never get tired. I never get tired. And I LOVE NY!"
Learning about successful business women inspires me. Tina Fey is another one. Who else? Who are the women that inspire you? I'm thinking this might be a fun Babble post/slide show. I'll link back to your blog if I use yours!

Babble Post: School Gardens
Today on Babble I couldn't help myself. A good reportor would probably start at the beginning of this garden's story. Perhaps they would open with pictures of what the garden looked like before all the grant writing, the meetings, and the endless hours of work. But instead, I'm jumping right to the finished product because I'm so excited to show the results! Click here see 7 reasons why this school garden is FABULOUS and worth all the effort! From the Archives
I started seriously blogging once my kids where ages three and up. Which is good because I wasn't tempted to write breast feeding/potty training/naptime schedule rants for all the world to see. But at the same time, sad because I didn't get to write breast feeding/potty training/naptime schedule rants for all the world to see. I suspect it would have been a good writing exercise for me. Before NYC Taught Me, I had a tiny blog that my close friends and family read. Honestly, I didn't have the brain power to write thoughtful posts during those years. To the women that blog with newborns: High five. Like this one. She must be brilliant to write essays during the first year of twins. Yikes! During my first year with twins, I was able to squeeze out a lot of one-liner blog entries, take a couple of sloppy pictures of my kids, and write a few emails to my family. My sister found this old email and sent it back to me last night. It made happy to be reminded about my life at that time. Enjoy!
What about you? When did you decide to start blogging? Do you blog for family or fame? haha
Oh here's the picture the email was talking about. You all can win ten points because I don't know who's who. And another thing: See what a difference owning a Canon Rebel t2i makes? I don't know what I was using in this picture, but it was most likely a small point and shoot. Almost makes me want to have another kid just so I could document their life all fancy and pretty with my new camera. ha very funny.
Hi Family!
Just wanted to send an update on our family. Thanks to the help of family and friends I promise the first month with the boys wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I think I have done the laundry only once and the dishes a few times (thanks Fran and Patty!) So far, adjusting to life with 3 kids has been far easier then when we were adjusting to life with our first one. The boys have slept a lot and haven't cried for longer than one minute. I know I know, things could and will change. The will wake up one of these days. Hopefully they will be just a calm as they have been. Cross your fingers, wish on a star, and of course pray to help these boys stay mellow! Hope things are going well with you all. Love you, Sharon PS. 10 points to whoever can tell who's who in the picture. |

Babble Post: No Butts! No Cuts! No Coconuts!
The best things for kids always seem to require waiting in a line. Santa! Ferris Wheels! Ice Cream! Face painting! Like the one on the left? One HOUR of waiting.
Since becoming a parent, I've been waiting in a lot of lines. Have you, too? Today in my Babble article, I discuss line waiting. I end with a slideshow of things I think are worth waiting for. And some that are NOT! Click here to read it.
Have a good weekend! Thanks again for reading NYC Taught Me and Kid Scoop. I was so nervous my first week at Babble. Could I really do it? Your support made me realize I can!
Parenting and Cupcakes
You know when you are trying to be a really good parent? And buy these cupcakes for your kid but they still find something to cry about? And all you want to do is say to them: LOOK! You're holding a cupcake! It was $3! And also I took you to the park! You're having the best life ever! Stop crying!
But then you realize your kid so tired and nothing will make them happy? SO you eat their cupcake? Because they don't even care anymore!
That's what happened to me Wednesday night. Thanks for the cupcake Oscar. Sorry I pushed you to your limit and you didn't even get to enjoy your treat. Because it was realllllly good.
